Planet Xtreme Teen Center opened its doors just over 3years months ago. The center has seen amazing growth since its first event- the East West/Disciple concert. In the past 3 years, Planet Xtreme has had over 1000 different teens from our area come through its doors. Many students have enjoyed a wide array of activities, clubs, and educational opportunities. John Doty, an active member of the Planet Xtreme family, exclaimed, "This place is awesome. Imagine what it will look like in 10 years!" The Future of Planet Xtreme is looking brighter and brighter. The Center wants to expand and grow to reach out all "at- risk" teens in Mercer County. Our community must get behind efforts to help them become healthy, productive, and make safe and positive choices.
Many teens are finding out that the teen center is not just a place that looks fit for a teen, but it is also catering to their needs. The tutoring program, while still in its beginning stage, is meeting the needs of some who need it most. After school, homework based tutoring is needed more and more. The center is looking into expanding its reach and working with local schools and guidance counselors in the up coming year. The Center is proud to be forming a cutting edge theater group. This theater group is spreading its wings this fall by hosting an evening of wit and side splitting laughter. The Music Department will also be kicking it up a notch. The Live/Studio Sound Boot camp Program will be recruiting teens to learn sound techniques and how to create impressive music. This program is broken into two separate Boot camps. More will be announced concerning dates and times in the coming weeks. Then there is the building end of things that the center will be engaged in. The various projects such as the skate park,putt-putt mini Golf course, cage basketball, climbing wall, and sound studio are just some of the things coming to the center in the future . |
