MERCER COUNTY ONE OF AMERICA'S PROMISE 100 BEST!!

In September 2007, America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth  announced that Mercer County, WV is a 2nd time winner this national competition to identify 100 Best Communities (The award "recognizes outstanding community efforts that improve the well-being of youth in five areas: Caring Adults, Safe Places, A Healthy Start, Effective Education, and Opportunities to Help Others. For More info: www.americaspromise.org.") for Young People.  The winning communities  ranged from small towns to urban neighborhoods across America and celebrated commitment to provide healthy, safe and caring environments for young people. On January 25, 2007, it was announced that we got it AGAIN!  We are joined by Monroe County this year, making southern West Virginia proud!
