In September 2007, America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth announced that Mercer County, WV is a winner of the national competition to identify 100 Best Communities for Young People. The winning communities ranged from small towns to urban neighborhoods across America and celebrated commitment to provide healthy, safe and caring environments for young people.
On January 25, 2008, it was announced that we got it AGAIN! 3rd time winner!!!
